Introducing: SAINT

George S. Interviews

Where can we find you right now and what are you up to?

I’m currently in Bern, Switzerland. I’m always creating new music and getting inspired by everything I hear on the Internet.

Tell us a bit about your gear (synth/software).

Nothing special really. I use Ableton Live, I have an iMac and the same headphones since over 13 years.

What's the one thing you find difficult with today's state of the music industry?

If you’re in the music game for the right reasons, nothing is difficult. Even with Social Media and streaming and all that new stuff, it also creates more opportunities. It all depends on the outlook you have on things. I’d much rather see the positive rather than the negative.

What do you think will be the future of music artists and creators in general?

I think the NFT space along with the Blockchain technology will be very interesting for artists and open new doors. I imagine a future where artists and fans have a much more intimate relationship through experiences the fans get access to from an NFT.

I really think there’s never been a better time to be an upcoming artist than now. I’m excited what the future holds for me.

Stairs

Take us through your songwriting process.

First I need to be inspired by something. Most of the time it’s always a melody. Once the main melody there I built the track around that. I always think about a story when creating music or playing DJ sets. It has to have an introduction a buildup, a compelling main part and an ending. Rarely I just open projects and try things until something good happens, something good needs to happen first in my imagination

What is your opinion about music awards in general? In what way has a musician reached the top in your opinion?

If it comes from a jury, just random people’s opinion, then why bother. If it comes from actual fans then it’s recognition for your work and a nice to have.

What is the hardest thing for a musician today?

Staying true to yourself. Don’t try to please, make your own ideas become reality, don’t try to please anyone.

What do you feel sets you apart from other artists?

I don’t see myself as better or worse. Music is subjective. There’s a very good quote by Frankie Knuckles (R.I.P.) that says: “The minute you think you’re greater than the music, you’re finished.”

Do you remember any strange or funny incident that happened to you?

Nothing that I can think of, but I’ll let you know when something worth telling happens.

Fence

Do you play video games? What is your favorite?

Believed it or not, I used to be a big fan of the Tekken series (PlayStation). I was even 3rd place in the Swiss Tekken 4 and 5 championship. I think I was 10 years early, if this was today I might have ended up in eSports!

I also used to play MMO’s all night long. It drove my parents crazy. Oh well…

Tell us about your latest or upcoming release.

Resurrection is out now! It follows the same direction of “Hope” and *Dreams” trying to combine classical sounds with techno. I find the mix between both worlds interesting and the feedback has been great so far.

Watch out for upcoming release and si hi on IG, I’m always replying.
