Still Waiting: Impatience and Compulsive Obsession
Still Waiting:
Inspired by todays culture of impatience and compulsive obsession, a story of impatiently screen watching desperately waiting for a text or call. Phone hone controlling your every thought. eyes so tired they feel like they're full of grit (sand filled blinking). Mind unravelling as paranoia and frustration take control. I wanted the funky and happy Lo-Fi beat to contradict the lyrics creating this hypnotic and addictive track, with a dark undertone. I am really proud of this track, I really love the retro sound Rowen created.
Who are the band members and what do they play?
It's basically me, but I get a lot of help from Rowen Silvester. Both Rowen and I are in a band with Oli Sturdy called Trummerkind.
What are the band's main influences?
My main influences are so broad, I love Leonard Cohen his lyrics are incredible, to be honest I find all music inspiring in some way.
Are there any other interesting or amusing happenings – no matter how small – that the band have been involved with that would be of interest to those who like your music?
The lyrics for Still Waiting were originally written on a scrap piece of cardboard which I just shoved in a cupboard in my kitchen. I found them about 6 months later and we started working on the song.
Really glad I found them, I still have the scrap of carboard.
Where was the single/EP/album recorded and who was involved in its production?
Still Waiting was composed in Rowen's house in Brighton, with lots of facetime calls, then the Lyrics recorded in my sitting room in Exeter. mixed in my kitchen and then sent to Duncan Chave to be mastered.
