That uncertainty sits at the heart of Was It Real or Was It Just Me?, the debut album from London-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Jana Tyrrell, released on the independent label My Pet Flamingo. The record fuses digital and analogue synthesis with ghostly vocal layers, guitars and programmed drums, turning them into tracks that run from industrial soundscapes to hypnagogic pop. It is, as she describes it, a fusion of the rock, metal, industrial and experimental electronic sounds she adores, blended with hypnagogic pop in her first release.
