ATransformation Of Nature In Art pairs contemporary-experimental composition with a decidedly analogue cast of characters: a 1966 Hammond M102 and its Leslie speaker, a hundred-year-old Broadwood upright piano, and an acoustic guitar that once belonged to Tim Lea Young's late father. Recorded over several years, the result is an album that treats "orchestral" and "playful" as entirely compatible ideas, weaving together piano lines, Hammond swells, a 22-piece string orchestra, eccentric vocals, environmental recordings, acoustic guitar and percussive elements into a single, genre-resistant whole.
