Brothers Jon (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and Tom Kulczycki (drums, piano, backing vocals) are the heartbeat of Tillerman, a band rooted in classic rock and Britpop influences. Joining them for this release are longtime collaborators Iain Moyser on bass and Nashville studio ace Nicky Van Hines on lead guitar, who lends an Americana flair to the track. The Nigeria-based Itunu Gospel Choir also contributes uplifting backing vocals, adding a powerful gospel element.

The band's journey began in their hometown of Leeds, where Jon formed his first band in 6th form. Seven years younger, Tom later came on board as the drummer, and the lineup was solidified with guitarist Shaun Mallia and bassist Iain, both of whom Jon met through early university jobs. After years of performing on the northern pub and club circuit, including regular gigs at Leeds' iconic venue The Cockpit, the band took a break in 2012. However, they reunited in 2019 to focus on refining their sound, leading to a deal with German indie label FBP Music Group.

Musically, Tillerman draws on influences like The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, and Britpop giants such as Oasis. Jon’s songwriting channels the melodic power of these bands, while Shaun brings his blues guitar chops, inspired by Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, into the mix. Iain's versatility on bass adds a distinct flavor to each track. For “The Son Must Follow The Moon,” the addition of Nicky Van Hines, a Nashville guitarist who has worked with artists like Vince Gill, was key to achieving the song's Americana sound. His contributions blend seamlessly with the retro, 60s-inspired beat, reminiscent of George Harrison's style.

The single is a gospel-inspired track that draws from biblical stories, particularly focusing on Jesus' death and resurrection. The title “The Son Must Follow The Moon” cleverly nods to the third-day resurrection of Christ, with the choir’s soulful harmonies elevating the spiritual tone. As Jon explains, “I’ve always wanted to try writing a gospel song, and this was the perfect opportunity. It’s got a little something for everyone—whether you recognize the biblical imagery or just enjoy the music.”

The track was recorded across three continents, with core production done in Loom Studio, Leeds, guitars recorded in Nashville, and choir vocals tracked in Nigeria. This unique global collaboration reflects Tillerman's evolving sound and creative vision.
