Nearly three decades on from its Bucharest beginnings, SLAPPER still treats nostalgia as a living, breathing thing. Created in 1998 by Claudiu-Gabriel Tache, who works as the only member, handling synthesizers and programming, the independent electronic project blends electronica, synthpop, melodic techno and trance into a sound that is both retro and forward-looking. Its latest single arrives with ’80s synths, ’90s Eurodance energy and 2000s electro and trance textures. The project’s longevity gives its current work a sense of history.
