In a recent interview promoting his memoir 'One Helluva Ride,' Michael Douglas offered insight into the current state of his longtime friend, Jack Nicholson. Douglas confirmed that while Nicholson has been described as 'well,' he is also reported to have disappeared from public view.

The friendship between the two began in the mid-1970s with Douglas producing 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest,' where Nicholson had an Oscar-winning role. Douglas expressed a desire for them to work together again, stating that while Nicholson remains healthy, his presence on the big screen has significantly decreased over the past 16 years. Nicholson last appeared in 2010 with 'How Do You Know.' Douglas explained he still sees Nicholson and described him as fine, observing that he often can be seen by his house walking around in slippers.

The actor also noted that while Nicholson is older than Douglas, their understanding of each other's circumstances allows for a comfortable distance. In recent years, Nicholson has significantly reduced his public appearances, typically showing up to Lakers games only occasionally. Despite this, Nicholson did make an unexpected appearance on Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary episode in 2025, where he introduced Adam Sandler.
