Pop star Madonna is set to open this year's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), marking the first time she has done so in 23 years. For her appearance, Madonna will perform as the most-nominated artist for '80s-inspired album Confessions II, which includes nominations for Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year.
